Why the site exists
Official publications are accurate and often unreadable. Forum answers are readable and often wrong. The goal here is the gap between those two: people should be able to look up a rule, run a number, and see the next step without an account, a paywall, or a 40-page PDF.
Minimum friction means calculators run in the browser, guides stay free, and the copy tries to name the form, the penalty, or the threshold you actually came for. Ads help keep that free. They do not change the math.
Editorial standards
- Tax and penalty pages cite IRS, Treasury, or other official sources when a rule is stated as current.
- Calculators are estimates. They do not file a return or contact the IRS.
- Pages say when a result is not a determination of eligibility, a refund, or professional advice.
- If a rule is unpublished or the sources conflict, the page says so instead of inventing a shortcut.
- Corrections go through the contact email below. Material updates are dated in the article or tool when the change is large enough to matter.
